It is our belief at Top Cat Films that the world suffers from insufficient films about cats and there are simply not enough cats represented on our screens. We believe this is because of the powerful international movement to keep cat stories and cat actors suppressed.
Sadly our first initiative in this area ended badly when Louie Howatt-Jackman’s big break on Baz Luhrman’s Australia was prematurely cut short and she was fired within days of starting the shoot. The official reason given was that the lead actor was allergic to cats, but one look at this early publicity photo shows that was just spin doctoring: the on-screen chemistry between these two was so electric it sizzled, personal jealousies surfaced and when it came to a choice, Louie just didn’t have his CV or box office draw and she became the ‘scape cat.’

Top Cat Films is signatory to the underground but growing international movement FMFMFMF (Film Makers For More Felines in Multicultural Films). It is our aim to stamp out this feline discrimination in all forms and we are actively seeking scripts for stories about cats and scripts with great acting roles for cats.
